The time has come for a new direction in American security here at home and elsewhere. If you are Arabic, Muslim and or Islamic, listen up. If your hate Americans, have vowed to kill Americans, consider Americans infidels and targets for your insane violence, then listen up. I say you have crossed the line of divergence we accept, and even welcome, from all other creeds and sects and races. Unless you are citizens of America, I call for your deportation if you are now on our soil. Likewise for such non-citizens, I call for denying you entry to America for any reason. And forget about flying as pilot or passenger on any aircraft except your deportation flight. Before you call me rascist, remember you are the ones who love death and hate life and liberty.
It is just a few hours before the return of the shuttle scheduled for later this morning. My thoughts turn to all the early failures, like a morbid televised serial. Noboday said quit then, we just worked a little harder and got a little tougher and finally the results turned positive. Then a war hero turned President challenged America to put a man on the moon and bring him safely home - in a decade. And we did all that and more. Sadly, with each of three fatal accidents, there was a progressively greater cry to shut NASA down. And now, facing serious troubles with the shuttle fleet, the din increases. These folks, who cannot do anything of note themselves, cry out for shutdown in the name of safety in an attempt to harness genius and bring the body politic back to the norm: the grey, homogenous blob of mediocrity. The would put have us put our collective heads and minds and values and genius in a dark spot adorned with earmuffs and blindfolds for good measure. My God, the few dollars per person NASA costs is a pittance. Hang the cost and the danger. Just for the Hell of it is justification enough to continue the NASA mission. If anything positive [count the ways below] comes out of the process, fine.If not, just the doing of it is necessary for the continuity of the American dream. I was happy as a clam until I learned about the capital gains tax rate of 15%. This is obscene: pure, stripped naked, obscene. This tax rate applies to the profit on an asset, such as a block of stock, when said asset is sold after being held a suitable period of time. Of course, not a dime is levied on said profit for social security. Contrast this to a working stiff making $500 a week. Such people also pay about 15% income tax and it applies even to the money already taken for social security - 7.65% - a little known fact. Another luckier soul makes a million bucks on a stock deal and pays the same rate as the working stiff and contributes notta dime to social security. Given we have the best government money can buy, which taxpayer is more likely to have the juice to get such a deal.
Consider my Plan B. Instead of assessing the first dollar of wages for social security, begin at $20,001 for the employee contribution. The employer contribution continues to begin at $1. Raise the limit from present level to whatever it would take to achieve revenue nuetrality - perhaps $150,000. Increase the capital gains rate to 20%: immediately, retroactive to 1 Jan 2005 and, for good measure, add a surcharge of 1% on all capital gains for social security.
How in Hell can people sleep having such a cushy, unfair advantage in taxes? How can the elected representatives sleep having engineered such a rotten deal? All this and plus a 100% write off on a gas guzzling SUV.
