Now the Bush admin comes up a billion short on health care for veterans. Even the consequence of stupidity is not normally so cruel. But adding in arrogance and outright theft might tilt the sales a bit. I refer to the lost revenue caused by the 100% writeoff on SUV's. I don't have the numbers, but the math is simple: total cost of SUV's written off multiplied by the nominal tax rate for their owners. That number would go a long way toward fixing this cruel and unusual twist of fate. Supposing a million SUV's at $50K and the tax rate was 25%. Answer: $12.5 billion. Duh! That number would go a long way toward fixing a lot of things. I wonder how the veterans affected by this feel? And their families? And you? And the SUV owners? As for me, I am sickened and ashamed.
