I have long felt that we Americans must get by the quagmire of bigotry, prejudice and racism if we are to ascend the next plateau in the quest for our national destiny. My own efforts to that end have been more strenuous than productive, but progress has been made over the years. It is hard to overcome being carefully taught to hate, before one is six or seven or eight. But hard is a long way from impossible. Now fast forward to 2008. Having deflowered Congress, we have a Presidential election is in the works. Building on the success of centrists in 2006, there is now a third party by that name - no coincidence! Now we do the two for one program and light the world for a century. We implement a grassroots call for Colin Powell to run for the Presidency as a Centrist. He is the personification of the American dream of achievement. He has earned - and deserves - the respect of our people. He has extricated himself from being used for his personal credibility by the Bush administration. He is a self proclaimed fiscal conservative and social liberal. He has a mind like a steel trap that is as nimble as Nureyev and as quick as a cat. He is incisive and able to communicate clearly and eloquently. He is in a near unique position of being able to repair the international damage done in the Bush years. I think he will not equate dissent with treason. And I see no other on the horizon will get me excited. The two for one is the fait accompli of electing an American of color as our President. With all his other positive virtue and abilities, he is exactly the right man at exactly the right time for ascending that heretofore evasive next plateau.
